GreenErasmus-RheinAhrCampus Clothes Swap in Remagen

Hi everyone!

My name is Pravesh and I am an Erasmus exchange student from Pondicherry University, Puducherry, India. I`m doing my Erasmus exchange semester at RheinAhrCampus. I want to share my thoughts about Clothes Swap, one of the Green Erasmus Projects.

Since I started shopping for my Exchange semester in India, I was worried that I might go overboard with my shopping cart and waste my money while increasing my Carbon Footprint. It was a relief to get to know that the GreenErasmus-RheinAhrCampus Team organizes Clothes Swap for the Winter Semester students to get winter clothing for free from those left by the seniors.

Though the idea of wearing secondhand clothes is not that prevalent in India, coming from a middle-class family and being the youngest child means you always have to wear what your brother used.
When I came to know about it, I jumped on the bandwagon. I found good sweaters and jumpers for the winter and the cherry on the cake is that it was all for free.

My International friends also made use of the opportunity to get some jackets and sweaters. Lorena from Albania was so happy that she found a cool Hoodie in the collection. We also had a small Fashion Runway with the students in their new clothes.

Being one of the Clothes Swap Project organizers and a GreenErasmus-RheinAhrCampus team member, I am so glad to get to know that it was so useful and pocket-friendly for the International Students. The idea of re-using things makes me feel responsible and at the same time helps me cut some extra costs because I cannot use this kind of winter clothes in my home country India. I would also love to donate my things when I leave for India.

In conclusion, if you are reading this, please check your wardrobe, and if you have some extra jeans lying around, you may donate them so that someone can make use of them and prevent it from ending up in a landfill somewhere.
